The COMPOSAFER® cylinder is 85% filled with propane and subjected to intensive fire. |
After 4 minutes PET liner melts and gas comes out through the surface of fiberglass overwrap. |
After 1 more minute the polyethylene protection case comes off the cylinder. |
Overfilling and overheating of a steel and aluminum cylinder can cause explosion. A COMPOSAFER® cylinder offers a simple and effective solution of safety. The safety factor of COMPOSAFER® cylinder is far exceeding the working pressure in comparison to steel cylinders.
Gas burns out on the cylinder surface within 15 minutes. |
The fiberglass overwrap shows no external damages after the test. |

COMPOSAFER® cylinders are 100% explosion proof due to a unique design. When it is engulfed in fire, the inner-gas tight PET liner melts within minutes. This allows the gas to 'weep' through the composite reinforcement overwrapped walls. Gas slowly releases and burns out. It is the safest way of releasing pressure and avoiding explosion.
